career assessment

At this point in time, you know that something is amiss in your career. It could hurt a little or it could hurt a lot, but you can’t really say what you want to do about how you feel.

All you know is that you’re fantasizing about your new life which involves a long, long vacation, maybe winning the lottery, and hopefully never needing to work again. But you’re also reasonable enough to know that fantasizing isn’t going to help with the reality that you’re living.

Even if your fantasy life comes true eventually, you’re going to need to do something with your time and that involves working between now and then. And you’re on the brink of getting ready to do something, but you could really use some insight and information that considers where you’re at and what’s possible for you.

Basically, you’re in a space where you want to know how to know if you’re making the right decision about how to sort out your career. You want to know how you can proceed to answer the dilemma of your career before you make, commit to, and proceed with a plan. You’ve noticed that your thinking could use some direction, calm, strategy, and even a bit of kindness.

And there’s wisdom in that.

Answers to how you approach your career moves are nuanced depending on what you take issue with about your career now, what context you’re making career decisions in with regard to what else you have going on in your life, and what you’d like the outcome of your efforts to be. Careers take time to transition so when you have a lot of thoughts but no direction, you need clarity.

At this stage, it’s very useful, at the very least, to:

  • Acquire the right words to describe your dilemma (to appeal to the right kind of help);
  • Know what your options are (how long they take, what’s expected from you, and the anticipated costs); and
  • Design a strategy or two (that may involve different tiers and not a linear timeline) to achieve what you want.

And this is what I can help you with.
